Book Jacket.

This assignment was to redesign the cover, spine, inside flaps, and back of a book of your choice. The purpose was to develop a concept or theme for the cover that connects to the book. “Night” written by Ellie Weisel is one of my favorite and most moving books I’ve read. Being a Polish Citizen this book has always been important to me and I wanted to challenge myself by choosing a book with such a brutal story. I explored type, color, and imagery to create a dark and eerie cover that makes you feel the pain and emotions that he felt throughout his time in Auschwitz. One of the main aspects I wanted to capture from the book was the constant mention of smoke coming from the chimney’s which represents the unknown of what was really happening.
